The second day of the Alp League started with the most important game of the tournament: Zurich vs Lausanne. If Zurich wins (and also wins the Basel game), they will be Swiss Champions. If Lausanne wins, they still have the chance to become Swiss champions. Both teams knew that on day 3, Lausanne will have their joker Nick playing, and Zurich will not have everyone from their starting 8. So, the fight was on. Lausanne took their chances and went ahead. Zurich did well in keeping up, and the score was almost even throughout the game, with Lausanne leading most of the time. Zurich then made use of their home advantage: with lots of fans and the club cheering as loud as they could, the team took all the energy and converted it into some goals. Zurich won 12 to 10.
The second challenge of the day for Lausanne was their next game against Basel. With some great team play and having players from all levels starting from the beginning, Lausanne was able to claim two points against Basel, lifting up their team spirit.
In the last game, Basel played against Zurich. This was the deciding game: if Zurich wins, they are Swiss National Champions. Zurich started off with their strongest 8, and after some initial difficulties took the lead up to 16:0 at half time. They managed to keep and extend the lead and win the game with 23:2. Due to some injuries, Basel had a difficult time, but still used the game well for their new players to learn and develop. With this last win, it was decided: Zurich is Swiss National Champion 2023!
