Saturday morning, July 8th. After what was for some a 15 hour train ride all the way from different corners of Switzerland, a long evening of drinks and food, followed by a well earned good night’s sleep, our SK club mixed team The Oreganos got ready for a match filled day in the scorching Slovakian summer heat – with a beautiful view of the castle! Throughout the day, we faced strong opponents, winning against some, losing against others, whilst in between happily fueling up with from scratch made Gulasch soup and Slovakian “cola“ and beer. Overall, we made 8th place out of 15, having enjoyed the day and competition, and working on our tans, voluntarily or not. Our top scorers of the day and the number of respective goals were:

For Saturday evening, the hosting team of Nitra organized a movie themed night out in a club, so there we strolled around town, Cruella and her Dalmatians, on our way to dinner, followed by a party to remember, connecting and dancing with the other players of the day. After what seemed to be a far too short night of sleep, Sunday came to be less intense with a series of beach korfball matches – in slow motion – and relaxing in the shade and the swimming pool. Ending the weekend tournament on a slow note with card games and beers at various pubs, we eventually went our separate ways – happy and tired – some preparing for a trip through Eastern Europe the next day, others for their trip home. Looking back to this great weekend, we are very much also looking forward to next year’s Nitra tournament! SAVE THE DATE July 13th-14th, 2024!
